Tim Shreds On

Our dear friend, Timothy Riley was lost in a tragic snowmobile accident two years ago, December 5th 2008. He is never to be forgotten.

My Favorite Photo of Tim
Backcountry gate Snowmass

This abandon bridge was about a five-minute drive from our high school and on lunch breaks we would often go jump off of it. On this particular hot and calm day Tim heads to the very top for one more jump, 50 plus feet. Just our luck, a police officer rolls up and gets out and starts yelling DON’T JUMP. Tim calmly looks at the officer, sucks his index finger and causally puts his hand in the air and tests the wind. With no hesitation Tim throws and huge cork 5 and floats down river. I was viewing this from the other side of the river. The officer was flustered, he had no idea what to do. On the way back to school I pull over and Tim emerges from the tamarisk, hops in, and sure enough we make it back right as the first bell rings.

Tim was always so stoked to ski

Tim's First Jib ramp, he called it a PJM (Portable Jib Machine)
Tim and I loaded the ramp into the green machine (his pickup) and headed off on an urban mission. We were pumped, not to often does Grand Junction get enough snow to hit urbans. Wile driving we hear a noise, like one could imagine, a heavy 10ft tall ski ramp being lifted from the bed of a truck and forcefully exploding on the pavement. oops lesson learned

Tim dropping into the x-games course on this icy flat light day. No one else had the balls to fallow.

Hit That Premiere was a successes!!

TOP O' the WORLD

CB Ski Film Premieres

Watching a ski film premiere in Crested Butte is probably about as close as one can get now to watching a show in a saloon in the Old West. While there are no cowboys blasting six-shooters, there is still the same level of rambunctious activity. The question usually was: is everyone cheering and yelling because they know the person on the screen, or because the person on the screen is getting not chest shots or face shots but over-the-head shots because the snow was that good? The evening kicked off with Sour Steezle Production’ new movie “Hit That,” which featured mostly local athletes and was largely filmed and edited by Matt Clark. It was Sour Steezles first major premiere witch they spent a whole season filming. The skiers traveled all over, going to resorts in Colorado such as Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, and of course Crested Butte, as well as some skiing in the mountains of Utah. The film was mostly focused on skiing but also had a few shots of snowboarding, snowmobiling and even snow kayaking.

Matt and Party Manager Brad

Brandon Eaker commented on “Hit That.” He “thought it would be another lame, backyard ski movie,” but was highly impressed by how advanced the skiing was and the quality of the filming. “The night was crazy and loud but what else can you expect from a ski premiere in a ski town such as Crested Butte?”
